Shopify: define operations before building the storefront

Plan products, markets, checkout and after-sales before polishing pages.

Four operational tracks

For teams with defined products testing a direct storefront. Maintain product specifications and media, market and language scope, payment and order notifications, and delivery/refund/support responsibilities. Assign an accountable owner to each track.

Check features and eligibility

Shopify’s international sales documentation is the official entry point for its tools. Availability can depend on location, plan, payment services and configuration. Compare required capabilities with those actually available in your account. Verify currencies, settlement and delivery before promising them to customers.

Accept an end-to-end order flow

Use supported test facilities to check checkout, payment status, notifications, stock changes and cancellation. Include out-of-stock, invalid address and refund scenarios. Save the date, inputs, observed results and defects. A working homepage is not an accepted storefront.

The steps above are editorial working methods. Verify eligibility and changing rules for your own product and operating location.
